Keep a Clear Route Past the Fittings
We measure the narrow points, door opening and any boxed pipes. A shallower basin or a different shower door may leave more useful space without changing the whole layout.
The plan uses the finished dimensions of the products, including handles and new wall coverings. A fitting that fits along a wall must still leave room to stand and move.
Give Towels and Toiletries a Place
Vanity drawers, a mirror cabinet or a suitable shower shelf can keep daily items close to hand. We check how much storage remains after allowing for pipes.
A recessed shower niche is a shelf built into a wall. It needs suitable construction and waterproofing; a surface shelf may be simpler where the wall cannot take a recess.
